Barnes Retains Ulster Title - April 25th
Irish 2008 Olympian and senior champion Paddy Barnes retained his light flyweight provincial crown after receiving a walkover at the Ulster Senior Championships at the Anderstown Leisure Centre in Belfast last night.EU silver medalist and Irish super heavyweight champion Cathal McMonagle also received a walkover in the 91Kg+ final.Nineteen year old Shane McGuigan, a son of former Irish Olympian Barry McGuigan, claimed his first senior title after out -pointing (26-13) talented Dungloe southpaw Cathal McCauley in a thrilling welterweight final.

National Junior Cadet Championships Finals - April 26th
Sixteen new underage Irish champions were crowned at the National Stadium in Dublin today following the conclusion of the 2008 National Junior Cadet Championships.The Ryston club in Kildare were always going to claim at least one title from this afternoons proceedings as talented club-mates John Daly and Eoin McGrath squared off in the 29Kg decider, McGrath taking the honours after a first round stoppage.
